Alhamdulillah, the Noble Qur'an is complete. Nothing has been left out (see 6:38)
The Noble Qur'an is clear and fully detailed see: 41:2-3, 44:2, 17:12, 18:54, 16:89, 12:111, 2:99, 6:114-115, 6:126, 7:52, 10:37, 11:1

Salat  is mentioned in tens of places in the Noble Qur'an, for a list go here:

A simple search for "pray + dog" or "prayer + dog" returns no results.

There is a rumour that I heard, that a DOG will nullify your prayers or good deeds. Or that PICTURES OR PHOTOS OF LOVED ONES in your home will have the same effect. (see this article about Early islamic coins with images on them - http://www.islamic-awareness.org/History/Islam/Coins/ ) You have to ask yourself - did these people keep their money outside of the house so that the angels could visit?!

Let's check Noble Qur'an for the TRUTH about What nullifies good works.

nullify
without purpose
in vain
annul
cancel
void
invalidate
worthless
wasted
efface
remit
cancel
remove
let go to waste

waba?ala

waba?ilun
(7:139:7) ... and vain ...
(11:16:13) ... and (is) worthless ...

sayub'?iluhu
(10:81) ... will nullify it. ...
wayub'?ila

(18:30:8) ... will not let go waste ...
liyu?i?a
(2:143:39) ... let go waste ...

To the best of my knowledge from studying the Qur'an in these areas, disobedience to Allah, disbelief, shirk (ascribing partners, mentioning names side by side with Allah swt), polytheism, indulgence, ingratitude can nullify good deeds. Not dogs or photos of loved ones. And Allahu Alim (Allah swt knows best)

Here you can read what Allah swt says about people who invent lies about Him or prohibit what is not forbidden.

4:50; lies about
5:103; lies about
6:21; 6:93; lies about
7:37; lies about
10:17; 10:60; 10:69; lies about
11:18; lies about
34:8; lies about
42:24; lies about
61:7; lies about
72:5; lies about

(16:116) ... (is) forbidden," ...
(10:59) ... unlawful ...
(6:150) ... prohibited ...
(6:119) ... He (has) forbidden ...
(3:93) ... unlawful ...
(3:94) ... fabricates ...

(5:87) ... make unlawful ...

What to do before Salat see 4:43 and 5:6

Inshallah, I do not say I know when I do not know. I am NOT a scholar. I say what I believe, and my beliefs are formed from reading the Scripture as instructed in 2:113; 2:213; 3:23; 4:105; 5:44; 5:48; 6:114; . I would urge anyone to check for themselves any information given here and do not accept it before you verify it for yourself (as per 17:36) against the Truth in the Noble Qur'an, our miraculous Gift from our Sustainer swt. May Allah swt make us ever more grateful and obedient to Him and increase us in Knowledge, inshallah.
